Message From the Alabama Interfraternity Council:

On behalf of the thirty-five fraternity chapters that make up the Interfraternity Council, I would like to welcome you to the IFC website.

The Fraternity & Sorority Community at the University of Alabama has a tradition rich in history and campus involvement. Since the founding of the University's first chapter in 1847, the Greek System has flourished. With roughly 3,900 gentlemen currently representing in IFC fraternities and thirty-five chapters on campus, our individual members, chapters, facilities, and charitable donations are among the most premier in the nation.

Whether you are a parent, a prospective fraternity member, or currently affiliated with one of our chapters, I hope our website will answer any questions you may have. If not, please do not hesitate to contact myself, chapter presidents, chapter recruitment chairmen, or other members of the Interfraternity Council.

Sincerely,
Eli Pilger
IFC President

We, the representative members of the Fraternity Community of The University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa, believing that the social Greek Letter fraternity is an inherent part of the University community, do establish this constitution. We hereby grant delegates to the Interfraternity Council such powers and responsibilities as are necessary to serve the following ends:

To create, maintain, and perpetuate better relationships among the men’s social fraternities and their respective members.  To foster and perpetuate the best interest of the University of Alabama and its Greek Community.

Our History

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) serves as the governing body of the fraternities at The University of Alabama. There are currently 35 IFC fraternities at the Capstone. For more than 150 years, fraternities have excelled in academics, leadership, athletics, and service. The University of Alabama is known for its strong Greek system and commitment to excellence. The IFC serves its members by sponsoring several enriching programs throughout the year. IFC constantly works with the Panhellenic Association, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and United Greek Council to further strengthen and support the UA Greek community's values and vision.
